Who could benefit from this course?

Being an entrepreneur is one of the most difficult aspects for an artist and creative visionary to master. In addition to developing, perfecting and exploring your craft, you also need to understand business basics and how to market yourself in this fiercely competitive, do-it-yourself world. At the heart of that is connection. Building relationships with your colleagues and your community. Developing confidence in yourself as an entrepreneur, and mastering an eloquent approach to your craft, whether it be pitching to a producer, or sitting over coffee with a potential director. Understanding how to successfully navigate your industry starts with one main concept - understanding who you are and what your desired outcome is from your career.

This course will help students break down the “big picture” plan into smaller, more obtainable goals. You'll learn how to utilize the artistic tools you innately possess to take control of your future. Topics covered will include networking basics, time management, utilizing free industry resources, and discovering your USP (Unique Selling Proposition) through conversing and connecting with your fellow colleagues in the class.

How does it work?

This one day intensive course will look at....

Defining your USP and taking creative control of your work,
Time management and setting goals,
Networking and pitching,
Financing options (to crowdfund, or not to crowdfund?).

The format will be a mix of Q&A’s, interactive exercises, talks, and planning.
Students can register interest for further days with Christina, where further and more personalized support can be given.

What do you gain?
Students will come away with a defined sense of who they are as artists (actors, writers, directors, producers), a better understanding of their craft and market, a stronger online presence, an education in how to maximize free resources they have access to, and an expanded network of colleagues and professionals. Understanding how to successfully navigate your industry starts with one main concept - understanding who you are and what your desired outcome is from your career. It’s important for creatives to not be intimidated by past failures and industry standards. Too often people quit before they even start because they are daunted by the “big picture”. This class will help take you from ‘page to stage’.
