How does it work?
This course will introduce the principles and techniques for manipulating puppets and puppet-objects to create the illusion of autonomous life. You will also be introduced to simple techniques for making puppets (using inexpensive materials), vocal exercises for creating character voices and approaches to developing engaging narrative structures. The exercises have been developed by Matt during his 15 years teaching on the Performance and Visual Art course at the University of Brighton, and drawing on his experiences working in puppet-based theatre.  The workshop will be highly practical, collaborative, fast paced, fun and funny. It is suitable for participants with various levels of performing experience.

What do you gain?
You will gain practical experience of animating objects and puppets through a range of exercises that you can continue to use after the course. Also, some effective techniques for creating puppets from inexpensive materials.
